Unfortunately i wont be able to give any compensation as i'm doing it for a uni project, sorry I already have my story, i just wanted to hear others to create the right feelings and experiences for my characters. I'm aiming to raise awareness but i'm wanting to be accurately representing people. Thanks anyway :)

By Slandering an Alleged Victim You Become an Ally to Oppressors

hearts22 ·
By now we have all heard about the alleged domestic violence of Amber Heard by Husband, Johnny Depp. When I first read the story my immediate thought was, “No, not Johnny Depp! He wouldn’t do that!” Judging by the headlines that read: “ Johnny Depp is being blackmailed by Amber Heard ”, “ Amber Heard is pictured smiling hours after alleged attack ”, and “ Amber Heard now has 20 million reasons to smile ”, I know I was not alone. I felt a great deal of shame when I realized my own thoughts,...

This is My Story, and My Plea

Afraid Anonymous ·
I hope this isn't against the rules. I am sharing my story here in hopes that other victims will help me get the word out. This is My Story, and My Plea Nutshell version: I've been raising my son in an abusive relationship since he was born. I've tried to divorce this man three times. I thought I was doing the right thing at first by trying to make a bad relationship work. Then I thought I was doing the right thing by staying so that I could protect my son from the terrible things his father...

Good luck to you and your sweet son. Some companies have legal services. You might ask your employer if your company will help. My other suggestion is that hosting international students can bring in a predictable $800.00 monthly. If I had a home, I would try that. In the meantime, the kids and I will read The Gift of Fear . Thank you for the suggestion. I'm in the same boat as you. The difference is that when I went for the restraining order against my emotionally-turned-physically abusive...

We're going to trial

SammiJ ·
I have known my abuser for around ten years now. He's always been physically violent, starting three months into the relationship. I was 17 and he was 21. I left multiple times and always ended up coming back. When our first daughter was nine months old I left him for what I thought was the final time. He ended up in jail for aggravated kidnapping or the girl he'd been cheating on me with. He was sentenced to five years and served four. When he got out on parole, I gave him another chance.

Why Doesn't She Just Leave?

Aimee Bequette-Chaney ·
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and in honor of this I wanted to do a blog post about one of the most pervasive, and detrimental, issues we have as a society when it comes to dealing with domestic violence (DV); victim blaming. The title of this post is "why doesn't she just leave?" (please note that I am just using the pronoun "she" for simplicity, but it could just as easily be "he" or "they"), because this is something I think we've all heard, or maybe even asked ourselves,...

Unbroken Angels and the Cycle of Abuse

Social ·
Every 30 seconds a child is abused. In 1964 the United States began to pay closer attention to child abuse and neglect, thanks to President Nixon who signed the first Federal child protection legislation (CAPTA) which provides Federal assistance to states for the prevention, identification, and treatment programs for child abuse (childwelfare.gov). Since then, April has been recognized as National Child Abuse Prevention month. Despite the 53 years since the initiation of CAPTA, child abuse...
