For the past few months, my brother has been behaving unenthusiastic and passive. He used to grit his teeth regularly while facing uneasy situations. He started ignoring the public and refrained from visiting even his closest friends.
I felt it unusual and approached our family doctor to conclude that he was suffering from a state called Agoraphobia. It's an anxiety disorder characterized by intense fear related to being in situations from which escape might be difficult.
Our family doctor suggested consulting a therapist at the earliest to overcome the situation. She also recommended Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) as an effective form of treatment for Agoraphobia. Specifically, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) approach that seems to work best with agoraphobia is exposure therapy.
So, I decided to take an appointment at a therapy center in Toronto for further psychological treatments. The appointment is scheduled for the coming Monday. I just wanted to know more about this treatment and medication. Please share your suggestions!
